In 2010, BEL won the Open Call, organized by the Flemish Government Architect, for the extension and renovation of the listed modernist sports complex in Genk, designed by Belarusian architect Isia Isgour and engineer André Paduart. The new double sports hall with its iconic vaulted roof and the renovation of the gymnastics hall were completed in 2019. According to Knack Weekend, it is one of the most beautiful sports halls in Belgium. In 2023, the complex was nominated for the Brussels Architecture Prize. Since then, BEL has worked on around thirty sports infrastructure projects of widely varying scale: from simple sports halls to large complexes with multiple arenas and grandstands for a broad public. This also includes special facilities such as dance studios, gymnastics halls, swimming pools, and even an underground ice rink and a velodrome with seating for 2,750 spectators. To date, five sports halls have been built: the double sports hall and the renovated gymnastics hall in Genk, the renovation of the Sport Vlaanderen sports complex in Herentals, the sports and classroom facility on Henleykaai in Ghent, the sports hall with dance studio in Bertem. Today, several ambitious new sports projects are in development: the renovation of the sports complex in Hofstade, the new Zennepark with a stacked sports complex in Halle, the emblematic sports tower on Rederskaai in Brussels.
