BEL028 – OLYMPIC SWIMMING POOL OSTEND
BEL proposes to renovate the existing building with its particular architecture and to maintain it maximally. Some thoughtful modifications and additions will enhance the original concept. The existing pool infrastructure must be improved and expanded. Four types of pool will respond to the needs of different target groups. The front parties and terraces will be restored to their old glory. The concrete brick walls will largely be replaced by joinery and glass to achieve a closer relationship with the environment and strengthen the pool’s public character. BEL will bring extra value to the existing terraces by having a path to the panorama in the new volume run along the various terraces. The existing pool will be removed so the space freed can be arranged as a public park in which the renovated building will be located centrally. A new recreational pool will be added. Just imagine swimming in the open air and in heated sea water with a great view of the beach and the sea! Ostend’s new swimming pool will be a unique attraction on the Belgian coast and a new tourist magnet for the city.
