BEL012 – EXHIBITION DESIGN: KAAILAND
The City of Antwerp is embracing an ambitious vision: the complete transformation of the Scheldt Quays.
While the final design is still taking shape, the city is committed to launching a comprehensive communication and information campaign to engage the public in this landmark project. A key element of this initiative is a large-scale exhibition aimed at reaching a wide and diverse audience.
Our ambition is to create an accessible, inspiring, and visually engaging exhibition experience.
We intend to activate the full cross-section of the quayside, as outlined in the master plan — positioning the exhibition in direct dialogue with pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists alike. In doing so, we bring the story of the quays into the daily lives of Antwerp’s residents and visitors.
Our message is clear: the city belongs to everyone. ‘t Stad is van Iedereen. Antwerpen Open.
With a strong didactic and optimistic narrative, we aim to foster public ownership of the evolving riverfront.
The exhibition will unfold across three thematic chapters, presented over three consecutive years, at three iconic locations along the waterfront.
Each location — the cruise terminal, the quay wall, and a temporary landscape — will be reimagined as a unique architectural stage, shaping a compelling spatial and narrative journey through the project’s vision, evolution, and impact.
